Welcome to the category “Apartment Test and Reviews”. As a kinky couple which enjoys fetish and BDSM dynamics, sometimes we are limited by the possibilities of our own apartment. Therefore we love to travel around and spend some time in special BDSM Apartments & Locations.
This time we visited Chamber with Secrets, a small standalone cottage about an hour outside Frankfurt, surrounded by nature with a view that makes you exhale the moment you arrive. The review is based on our stay from January 15 to 20, 2026. We originally booked four nights and ended up staying five, but more on that in a moment.
Chamber with Secrets — Our Experience
From the outside it’s unassuming. An older, cozy house sitting quietly in the landscape. No key handover, no waiting around: a door code arrives on your phone and you let yourself in.
The atmosphere is already there when you step inside. Lights on, music playing, and little surprises tucked behind certain doors that we won’t spoil here. The ground floor reads almost ordinary at first — bedroom, living room, a small bathroom. Then comes the kitchen. We’ve stayed in a lot of holiday rentals and never encountered one this well stocked. Proper pots, good knives, everything you’d actually need to cook a real meal. If you want a kinky retreat without giving up good food, this is the place. Outside on the terrace there’s a jacuzzi. A privacy curtain can be drawn across, and with very few neighbours around in a freestanding house, that already felt more than sufficient.
The whole property runs on a smart home system managed from a tablet at the entrance. It takes a little time to find your way around it, but a thorough guide walks you through everything.
Then you find the rooms. And that’s when this apartment becomes something else entirely.
The first one on the ground floor is called St Blasius, designed as a chapel. There’s a confession booth, a cage laid out as an altar, and a St. Andrew’s Cross standing in for the traditional cross. The care and thought that went into every element is striking. Someone built this with real intention.
Head downstairs and you enter Cockwarts, a dungeon space with unmistakable nods to a certain famous wizarding school. The imagination kicks in straight away. Further back sits another bathroom, and at the very end: Dr Gyler, a steampunk-styled “practice” equipped with BDSM furniture channelling the energy of a mad scientist ready for experiments at the highest aesthetic level. Who dares to take a seat in the examination chair?
We’ve visited a fair number of kink-friendly apartments over the years. The creativity and execution here is on a different level. Every corner feels deliberate. You stop thinking about the outside world, which is exactly the point.
Extraordinary Owners
Now for the honest part.
The owners had recently brought in a new cleaning person, and the arrival wasn’t perfect: towels left from the previous guests in the bathroom, a few spots missed during the clean, and a coffee machine that had stopped working. We got in touch with the owners. They drove an hour to reach us, brought a brand new coffee machine, and sorted everything themselves.
Two warm, approachable people who, as they mentioned, come from an escape room background. That background suddenly explains everything about how this place came to be. Because of the inconvenience, they offered us an additional night free of charge. We accepted gratefully.
That kind of response says more than any description could.
After their visit: spotless. The bed was comfortable and we felt completely at ease for the rest of the stay. One thing worth knowing: there appears to be a night-mode setting on the water heating. The shower turned noticeably cooler later in the evening, so something to keep in mind if a hot late-night shower is part of your plans.
What we liked
- Three meticulously designed rooms with an extraordinary level of attention to detail
- Kitchen equipment that surpassed anything we’ve found in a holiday rental
- Jacuzzi on the terrace with a pull curtain for privacy
- Smart home atmosphere control: lighting, music and ambience all from one tablet
- Contactless check-in via door code
- Owners who responded immediately and generously when things went wrong
- Freestanding house in a quiet, secluded setting
- Comfortable bed and high-quality furnishings throughout
What we didn’t like
- Cleaning issues on arrival (leftover towels, missed spots, non-functioning coffee machine)
- Night-mode water heating: the shower turned cooler later in the evening
- A car is essential — no public transport, 15–20 minutes to the nearest village
- Steep and narrow stairs to the basement and up to the terrace
